ACHIEVEMENTS

66 Youth Building Inspectorate Trainees Join the City of Ekurhuleni

In partnership with the Built Environment Transformation Fund and the University of Johannesburg, the City of Ekurhuleni has welcomed 66 youth trainees to begin a 24-month building inspectorate internship.

Following academic training at UJ, the trainees will gain practical experience at various customer care centres, working alongside city building control officials to enforce building regulations and municipal by-laws.

At the induction, MMC Nomadlozi Nkosi encouraged the group to be proactive, highlighting the city’s commitment to youth empowerment and skills development in the built-environment sector.

52 Youth Building Inspectorate Trainees Join the City of Tshwane

In a collaborative partnership between the Built Environment Transformation Fund, the University of Johannesburg, and the City of Tshwane, 52 trainee building inspectors have joined the Economic Development and Spatial Planning Department for a twelve-month practical placement programme.

During this placement, the trainees will work alongside the Building Control Office across all seven regions of the City, including Group Property, to conduct inspections that ensure compliance with municipal by-laws as well as national building regulations and standards. This initiative is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world municipal experience.

As the collaborator and facilitator of the Building Inspectorate Training Programme, the Built Environment Transformation Fund extends its best wishes to all trainees as they embark on this exciting new chapter!
